BlueChip Energy Announces Expansion Of Solar Manufacturing To 75MW

Renewable Energy Provider To Become One Of The Largest PV Solar Manufacturers In The US

Lake Mary, FL., September 20, 2010 –BlueChip Energy™, a provider of complete solar energy solutions for residential, commercial, government and utility applications, today announced it is expanding its solar module production annual capacity to 75 megawatts (MW).

The company has completed installation and trial runs of its first production line of PV solar modules and will be expanding production capacity for 2011. The panels will be manufactured under the ASP brand. Recently acquired solar manufacturing equipment allows the company to cover the complete panel manufacturing process from start to finish. The production capacity makes it one of the largest PV solar manufacturing plants in the United States – and the only one in Florida – the Sunshine State.

The company has allocated 20MW of production to orders received for delivery in early 2011. Having manufacturing vertically integrated into the value chain, the company can further reduce operational expenses and ensure its prices are the most competitive in the industry. The increased production capacity will meet the needs of current solar farm projects as well as provide a stable supply of high efficiency, competitively priced modules. BlueChip Energy is developing a 10MW solar farm and has a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply Progress Energy Florida with renewable solar power.

“This is an important milestone for the company and the cleantech industry. Green manufacturing not only provides a boost to alternative energy, but also increases jobs. With an aggressive ramp-up, BlueChip is well positioned to support increases in demand for alternative energy projects worldwide” commented Lawrence Hefler, spokesman for the company.

ASP manufactures mono-crystalline silicon solar panels ranging from 230 watts to 250 watts with a panel efficiency of 16.9%. Using new technology, the company is developing a second production line of high wattage utility grade product designed for large scale solar to be released in 2011. Located in a 318,000 square foot facility near Orlando, Florida, ASP is one of the few manufacturers of US-made mono-crystalline silicon solar panels suitable for the Buy American Act.
