Solar development is a capital-intensive business. BlueChip Energy (BCE) offers financial investors and strategic partners opportunities along the entire solar value chain, from development, engineering procurement and construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance to electricity sales.
An Expanding Pipeline
At BCE, we control our own destiny with an expanding pipeline of solar projects. With more than 50 MW of utility-scale projects currently under construction, and close to 450 MW in development, BCE controls its own demand and offers solar partners and investors a chance to guarantee their participation in the booming US solar power sector.
The 10 MW Rinehart Solar Farm, located on the rooftops and surrounding grounds of the company’s corporate offices and manufacturing facility in Lake Mary, Florida, is under construction with a Phase 1 completion date of Winter, 2011.
The first of its kind in North America, the Rinehart Solar Farm rooftop stage is currently producing energy for its own solar module production facility. At completion, the rooftop installation will be 1.5 MW, making it the largest rooftop installation in the State of Florida. The remaining 8.5 MW of the Rinehart project will be ground-based plants located on the surrounding 24 acres. The availability of land adjacent to the Rinehart Solar Farm allows for the development of additional 30 MW.
BCE’s second flagship project is the 40 MW (Phase I) Sorrento Solar Farm, located on 140 acres in Lake County, Florida.Receiving fast-track approval from local authorities, construction began in Winter, 2011. The Sorrento Solar Farm will be the largest privately owned PV facility in the State of Florida and one of the largest in the United States. Adjacent land areas allow for up to 60 MW of additional solar farm development.
BCE holds agreements with Progress Energy Florida for the purchase of the solar power from both the Rinehart and Sorrento facilities. A 200 MW solar farm in Escambia County, Florida is also in development.
